We are the Winter Adapted Games (WAG) club, conceived in 1991 with the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen's. We organize a fun-filled day of non-competitive sports, games, and activities for people from the Kingston community who have an identified disability. Each year WAG is held the last Saturday of January. During WAG, each participant is paired with a Queen's student "Buddy" to ensure a safe and fun-filled day. This year we have become and A&R club and our aim remains to be connecting Queen's students with the community while creating awareness about barriers to participation. A key part of out initiative is providing a free day for our participants to minimize cost as a barrier to sport participation. Participating in WAG is an opportunity to make someone's day, whether that is as a participant or as a buddy volunteer. We've been told by some participants that they look forward to this day as much as they do Christmas, for which we are so honoured!
Thank you to all that contributed to WAG 2024 on Saturday January 27th! |
